In autofiction, the author may draw heavily from their own life experiences, using real events, people, and emotions as the basis for the narrative. However, they are not bound by strict adherence to factual accuracy. Instead, they may manipulate or embellish elements of the story, invent characters or situations, or alter the chronology of events to better serve the artistic or thematic goals of the work.
