Developing listening and speaking skills in high school. A methodological and pedagogical framework. Part One, autor Alina-Ioana Bondăreț

The present paper explores the theoretical foundations and methodological applications of teaching listening and speaking skills in high school through the systematic integration of audio-visual texts. Drawing upon second language acquisition theory, communicative language teaching, cognitive processing models, and contemporary multimodal pedagogy, the study proposes a comprehensive instructional framework designed for upper secondary learners (CEFR A2–C1). Particular emphasis is placed on authentic materials such as public speeches, documentaries, interviews, debates, and film extracts. The paper examines the role of fluency and accuracy, top-down and bottom-up processing, student talking time, teacher roles, assessment design, and formative feedback. Additionally, detailed lesson models and evaluative rubrics are provided. The findings support the claim that structured use of audio-visual texts significantly enhances communicative competence, intercultural awareness, learner autonomy, and motivation at high school level.

From Twain to Morrison: Freedom and Moral Conflict in American Fiction, autor Alina-Ioana Bondăreț

The central argument of this study is that American literature progressively shifts from exposing social hypocrisy to exploring psychological and historical trauma, revealing an expanding understanding of freedom—not only as physical liberation, but as moral, emotional, and cultural self-definition. While Twain critiques the moral contradictions of slavery and “civilized” society, Hemingway presents the individual’s struggle for dignity in a disillusioned modern world. Fitzgerald exposes the illusion and moral decay behind the American Dream, and Morrison ultimately confronts the enduring psychological legacy of slavery and racism. Together, these authors illustrate how American literature becomes increasingly concerned with internal conflict, memory, and inherited trauma.
